SPREADING THE MESSAGE OF LOVE
Since 2018, Save & Care's main objective in Portugal has been to inform the public about the unhealthy food system that uses and abuses animals without mercy.
Over the years, we have worked through social media, lectures, street activism, protests, and national marches to inform and alert the Portuguese people that cruelty to animals is part of the entire process of raising animals for human consumption.
We believe that systemic change comes mainly through the individual change of each citizen, and that everyone, without exception, has the power to change the world and save lives every day through our personal choices.

With more than 330,000 followers on our social media platforms, we share the reality experienced by animals within different industries and how incredibly sensitive and intelligent they all are when they live in freedom, loved and cared for at the sanctuary. By sharing information with the public, touching their hearts and minds on a daily basis as we are constantly present in their lives, gradually those who follow us learn to open their eyes to the cruelty and abuse normalized in our society, and the growing desire to change and be in tune with their own values begins to appear.

We use the all-plant-based lunch as a powerful practical demonstration tool. Our goal is to challenge perceptions and break down myths and prejudices about plant-based diets.

To create an emotional connection between visitors and residents. This connection is crucial to encouraging continued support for the Sanctuary.

Raising support through the sponsorship program, donations, or volunteering, selling merchandise, all vital for covering expenses (food, veterinary care, etc.).
OPEN DAYS
Open Days are special events organized at the Sanctuary, designed to welcome the public once a month, allowing our supporters to visit the space, meet the rescued animals, and learn about our mission.
The central goal of Open Days is to inspire change and promote compassion through education and firsthand experience , demonstrating that a world without animal suffering is possible.
What are Open Days?
Open Days have limited spaces and include:
Guided Tour: A tour of the Sanctuary, where visitors are guided through the facilities and pastures.
Meeting the Residents: The opportunity to meet the multi-species family that lives in the Sanctuary, hear their stories of rescue from exploitation or abandonment, and observe their life in freedom and safety.
100% Plant-Based Lunch: Sharing a delicious and ethical meal, entirely plant-based.
In short, we want visitors to leave the Sanctuary not only informed, but inspired and motivated to integrate more compassionate choices into their lives.
